The guidance below has been highlighted as it is particularly relevant to the themes and plugins used on this platform.
Themes & menus
Themes are pre-designed templates that determine the look and feel of your website. We’ve provided a selection of themes for you to choose from.
To change your website’s theme, go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes in the left-hand navigation menu of your dashboard. You’ll see a list of available options.
Please note that some of the older themes are no longer actively supported. We recommend choosing a block-ready Gutenberg theme for the best experience.
For a full list of CampusPress-supported themes, please visit their listing here. All provided themes are accessibility-ready.
The most up-to-date and supported University of Lincoln theme is UNILincoln, which powers this website. It supports Gutenberg blocks and a range of custom blocks.
Plugins
The following plugins are available by default on all sites and should give a solid initial choice for users.
For more information on plugins and a list of all available plugins please use the following link to Plugins supported by CampusPress.
Please note that if you require a plugin from the extended list it will need to be requested by emailing wordpress@lincoln.ac.uk.
Requests for the plugin Formidable Forms will need to be referred to wordpress@lincoln.ac.uk as we will need to ensure that users follow GDPR requirements and use Privacy Notices if any personal data is collected in a form.
Page builders
We have now switched over to the default WordPress Gutnberg builder, it gives the most flexibility and future proofing over other page builders
Menus
Menus are the main navigation for your website. Depending on your theme, they can be displayed in the header or as a “hamburger menu” on smaller screens.
When setting up a menu, you can add drop-down menus from parent categories. However, please avoid adding more than one level of drop-down menus. For more information on customizing your menu, please read the Menus help guide.
If you’re using the University of Lincoln theme ‘UNILincoln’, you’ll have more options to create a “mega menu.” This will override the default Appearance > Menus settings and give you more flexibility in the dropdown area.
Currently, only the UNILincoln theme supports mega menus. If you have any questions or would like to use the UNILincoln theme on your site, please contact us.
You’re also welcome to start a Teams chat for further support.
For a full overview of themes and menus, please refer to the CampusPress Themes and Appearance guide.
